I am currently a Research Associate with the Integrated Mathematical Oncology group at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute where I am working to develop data driven models to explore cancer evolution. I was afforded this opportunity due to my M.S. that I recently obtained (August 2016) in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in the College of Medicine at the University of South Florida.
Prior to this I spent two years working with the Marine Genomics Laboratory lead by Dr. Mya Breitbart in the College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida. Throughout my baccalaureate and post-baccalaeurate experiences I found myself enthralled by the numerous bioinformatics tools available and the lack of tools necessary for what I was working on.
I began to teach myself Java, R, and Python, thereby discovering an aptitude in computational biology. I did a brief internship for Roche Pharmaceuticals where I was able to utilize and further develop my computer science skills, it was an outstanding experience I will not soon forget.
I’m passionate about applying my skills to cutting edge research, specifically in the area of integrating the genomic and experimentalist approaches into mechanistic, mathematical modeling. For more information regarding my research experience, publications, presentations, awards, and professional development please see my curriculum vitae and/or my LinkedIn profile.
